Permanent exhibition for Vasa Museum.
“Preserve Vasa” is a 150 sqm permanent exhibition at Stockholm’s Vasa Museum. The Vasa Museum receives over one million visitors a year. This subjects the ship to a lot of strain and, as a result, world-leading research is being conducted at the museum in order to counteract this effect. The exhibition describes the hi-tech fight against the forces of nature that has been central to the history of Vasa ever since she sunk in 1628. Scientists are looking for clues at molecular level to understanding the decomposing processes in the wood and how they can be controlled. Visitors are invited to step into enormous enlarged oak cells, to study the complexity of preserving a hull of Vasa’s size through films, photography, artefacts, slide shows and interactive stations.
